Washington County working with Minnesota Housing to provide affordable first-time homebuyer loans
The Washington County HRA is partnering with Minnesota Housing to provide affordable mortgages to first-time homebuyers through the Start Up loan program.
Start Up offers fixed interest rates and downpayment and closing cost loans up to $10,000 for eligible first-time homebuyers. Buyers can purchase homes in Washington County that cost up to $307,300.
“Minnesota Housing’s affordable loans, combined with the support of Washington County and local lenders, will help more families achieve homeownership,” said Minnesota Housing Commissioner Mary Tingerthal.
Minnesota Housing is a state agency that provides access to safe and affordable housing and builds stronger communities across the state. Minnesota Housing offers purchase, refinance, and home improvement loans, as well as financing for affordable rental housing throughout the state.
“We’re happy to make the Start Up program available to first-time buyers here in Washington County,” said HRA Executive Director Barbara Dacy. “Washington County is a great place to live. By helping young families afford their first home and put down roots here, we can better sustain vibrant communities filled with residents that are truly invested in their neighborhoods.”
