| From my bird’s eye view as Chair of the Board of Commissioners, I’ve been able to see that 2025 was another year of innovation and leadership at the Washington County CDA.
In a year defined by challenge and momentum, our team continued to deliver meaningful impact—supporting thousands of residents, strengthening communities, and driving economic opportunity.
It takes both broad understanding and targeted implementation to address the fundamental issues of housing stability and affordability and economic growth. This year, staff translated policies into action, assisting more than 3,500 households and supporting more than 150 businesses across the county. The numbers shared in “Our Impacts in 2025” speak for themselves, telling an important story. I invite you to see what we were up to on Our Impacts news post.
But it is when we hear directly from even just a handful of the people who have participated in a CDA program that we understand the importance and direct effects on our friends and neighbors:
- “Anytime I’ve come to the CDA office, I’ve had a good experience. Everyone is willing to help you, and there’s never any confusion. Whatever help I needed, all I had to do was ask, and the staff was more than willing to answer my questions.” — A.J., rental assistance client
- “Due to a financial hardship I was in as a result of health and income issues, I was having difficulty making payments for my mortgage and other expenses. The CDA helped me avoid foreclosure by reviewing my situation and giving me referrals and resources I could work with and make the best choice for resolution. I’m now free of debt. Thank you for making a difference in my family’s lives!” — D.K., foreclosure counseling client
- “The Homeownership Specialists at the CDA did a great job helping us through a situation that we did not know how to handle with our association. [They] helped navigate with us to save our home. Thank you for helping us!” — T. J., foreclosure counseling client
- “Thank you [to] a wonderful team of people for having compassion in tough situations!” — Anonymous, rental assistance client
- “[CDA staff] were very helpful and responded to my questions and needs in a timely manner. Both are a great asset to the CDA.” — A.P., rental assistance client
- “I feel happy when I come in the office to meet as a family.” — B.A., rental assistance client
- “[The Open to Business advisor] feels like a friend and coach — someone who cares about my success. Being a small business owner can be tough. He helped me get ahead of the process, making sure I really understood what I was submitting and what might make me successful or present challenges. I’m just grateful and happy to spread the word about the program.” — K.R.R, Open to Business client
- “The CDA has been very open to input and collaboration. I appreciate the organization’s willingness to help ‘solve problems’ rather than simply talk about it.” — M.M., EXCITE Teacher Externship coordinator
I think I can speak for the whole Washington County CDA Board of Commissioners when I say that we are looking forward to another year of service in our community. Together, we look forward to building an even stronger Washington County.
