• Minnesota Multi Housing Association’s Multi Housing Achievement in Design, Advertising and Community Support (MADACS) Award for Best Complete/Total Building Renovation.

 

In 2011, we took ownership of a 40-unit public housing building located in Forest Lake called Whispering Pines. We developed a comprehensive capital improvement plan to address building code non-compliance and modernization. The $1 million renovation included replacement or repair of the elevator jacks, fire alarm system, exterior brick work, common areas, and interior bath and kitchen finishes. We coupled funds from Minnesota Housing’s PARIF (Preservation Affordable Rental Investment Fund) program, Qualified Energy Conservation Bonds, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Capital Fund, and our Capital Improvement funds.
