For the 11th consecutive year, the Washington County Housing and Redevelopment Authority has been honored with the most prestigious award in governmental accounting.

“It’s always an honor to receive recognition for the hard work our employees provide to our citizens,” said Executive Director Barbara Dacy. “Financial transparency is a critical issue to our Board of Commissioners, to me, and to all of our staff.”

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. The HRA’s submission was judged by an impartial panel to demonstrate a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” and clearly communicate the financial story of the HRA to the general public. The award is presented by the Chicago-based Government Finance Officers Association.

“We know it’s important to Washington County taxpayers that their money be spent responsibly,” said HRA Finance Director Aaron Christianson. “That we’ve received the award 11 years running demonstrates the strong degree of institutional commitment to that goal. While our board and staff have changed over that time, we continue to provide the kind of accountability that taxpayers have a right to expect. I’m proud of our commitment to that goal.”
