• The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Official’s (NAHRO’s) Award of Merit for Program Innovation – Resident and Client Services.

Initiated in 2010, we partnered with Canvas Health, Inc. to create a new program specifically aimed at youth. The goal of the Youth in Transition Program was to assist Washington County youth from 16-21 who were homeless or living in a place not meant for habitation in finding stable, secure housing. Canvas Health performed outreach, stabilization, and ongoing support services, while we worked with the youth in finding a suitable rental unit, administered rental assistance on behalf of the youth to the landlord, and provided ongoing housing supportive services to help these youth attain self-sufficiency.
